Styling Your Session

Simple clothing is best and allows the focus of your portraits to be on expression and interaction.  Too much patterned clothing can take away from the your pictures, so please consider solid fabrics and limiting ‘busy’ clothing selections. A good rule to follow: Start with one or two colors as your base for all subjects and then add one or two patterns or whimsical touches, depending on your group’s size. Limit large logo pieces or those with characters on them, as these tend to date your images.

DOs:
• Start with one or two base colors and add patterned or whimsical touches to create a cohesive look with personality.
•Dress like yourself in clothes you feel great in.
•Dress children in comfortable clothes they like.

DON’Ts:
•Include large logos or character clothing, as this tends to date your photos.
•Wear too many patterns or confusing prints.
•Wear something so unusual that you won’t recognize yourself years down the road.
•Be scared to include a fun accessory on children like rain boots or a cute hat.
